The project included renovating a 100-year-old building into a more energy efficient and accessible space to expand Ozark School District’s Tiger Paw Early Childhood Center and programs.
The expansion was a complex project with a quick turnaround and included replacement of entire mechanical system with new energy efficient units, new LED lighting, energy efficient windows, secure entry/storefront, and asbestos abatement. Structural issues were discovered during construction and addressed in order to maintain a safe building. A new building was incorporated as a connector facility between two existing buildings for accessibility, which included a new elevator.
Due to the Early Childhood staying operational during construction, it took detailed collaboration between the design and construction team. Because the original building had been constructed in 1922, this collaboration required a comprehensive understanding of the building’s existing conditions.
During construction, the City of Ozark was revitalizing the roadways around the Ozark Square and Early Childhood Center. It was crucial to have continuous communication and proper planning between the owner, design team, contractor, subs and City of Ozark. Each entity was able to work together to provide solutions and focus on finishing on time and on budget.
